Timorese Catholic University (UCT) is a private university that belongs to the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Dili, Timor-Leste, founded in the year of Saint Joseph, 2021, by the Archbishop of Dili through Decree No. 14/2021 of December 6th. The University, which is dedicated to St. John Paul II, was formally launched by the Prime Minister of VIII Constitutional Government His Excellence Taur Matan-Ruak and H.Em Virgílio Cardinal do Carmo da Silva, SDB Archbishop of Dili on December 8th, 2021 based on Ministerial Dispatch of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture no. 166/GM/MESCC/XII/2021 of December 3rd that attributes operational license to UCT.
